Tapestry particularly enjoy helping to raise valuable funds for local charities with their concerts. Our nominated charity for 2007 was East Anglia's Children's Hospices, in particular the Milton hospice, for whom we raised £1937.

We have also enjoyed performing at St Ives Music and Arts Festival and at St Ives Twin Town, Stadtallendorf in Germany at the opening concert of their Festival.

Our name comes from the interweaving of voices to form a colouful whole, a "Tapestry" of sound created by vocal threads.

Review From October 22nd Concert:

The Art Of Tapestry

"25 Alive continued on Saturday 22nd October with a concert by the popular a cappella group Tapestry, who very generously donated all proceeds to the 25 Alive charities. This year is a landmark for the group themselves who celebrate ten years of singing together with nearly 100 performances in that time. Tapestry sang a delightful programme which embraced a wide range of styles from 16th century madrigals by Wilbye to modern ballads of Cole Porter and Jerome Kern. We also enjoyed a six handed piano trio who played with splendid giggles and great panache! Our thanks and congratulations to Tapestry for the pleasure of ten years past and hopefully ten more to come."

Other Tapestries...

There are other 'Tapestry' groups around the world. Unfortunately we haven't heard them yet, but you may find the following selection from North America interesting:

  • Tapestry Singers - Austin's womens chorus are a community-supported, nonprofit organisation dedicated to singing songs by, for or about women.
  • Tapestry - are a choir from the Puyallup Valley. They specialise in harmony singing in two to eight parts. The choir has grown and earned a reputation for good singing presented with a smile!

  • Renaissance masses
  • Madrigals and earlier part songs
  • European sacred music
  • 19th - 20th century English church music
